Vision

We are a group of eight Local authority-maintained schools in the IP12 area working together to enhance the expertise of staff and provide better opportunities and experiences for our primary school pupils. By collaborating with our local IP12 high school, we ensure that our students are well-prepared for the transition to the next phase of their education.

Our vision is to improve experiences and outcomes for all children in IP12 by establishing a distinctive and sustainable approach to school improvement. This approach is created, developed, and owned by IP12 schools and is based on the principles of ‘system leadership,’ where school leaders contribute to improving schools beyond their own.

Currently, our primary focus is to incorporate rich vocabulary into the curriculum. This emphasis stems from the increased needs of our pupils after experiencing lockdown and the impact of COVID. They have not had the same opportunities to develop vocabulary, oracy skills, and social skills as they did before.

Achievements so far:

Successfully organized a high-quality training day led by Robin Bones, a renowned speaker on vocabulary development, for all teachers and Higher-Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) within the partnership.
Established working parties consisting of Headteachers, SENDCos, EYFS, Literacy, Governors, and Senior Leaders from our schools. These groups collaborate on different aspects of our joint action plan, sharing best practices, research, and resources.
Secured nationally renowned training from Voice 21 to enhance the oracy skills of our students.
Developed and implemented a comprehensive vocabulary teaching framework, including Tier 1, 2, and 3 level instruction, resources, and expectations across all schools.
Engaged in sporting and other activities (e.g. debating) among the schools to facilitate a smooth transition for pupils to high school.

We have achieved all of these accomplishments within a year, with partial funding provided by the Local Authority. Our collaborative work has been recognized by the Local Authority as an exemplary model for other schools in the county to consider.
