Y6 Residential Postponement

General News

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is with great regret and reluctance that I am writing to inform you that we have had to take the decision to postpone the Year 6 residential visit to Derbyshire, which was scheduled to take place from Monday 20th September 2021 – Friday 25th September 2021.

After consultation with Public Health England, Suffolk Public Health and the school Governing Body, we have been advised that the health and safety risks associated with the trip at this time are significantly high (as a result of growing coronavirus cases both nationally and in the Derbyshire region). While the governors and I are eager for the children to avail of this wonderful learning opportunity as planned, the health and safety of the children, the school staff and the accompanying volunteers is, understandably, our main concern and priority.

As a result, we have taken the decision to reschedule the trip until later in the academic year, to provide the best possible opportunity for the trip to go ahead safely and successfully.

While I know this will be disappointing for the Year 6 children, who are undoubtedly looking forward to the experience, we are confident that course of action we are taking is necessary to safeguard our children, their families and our staff.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office staff via email/telephone. However, we will communicate an update regarding the proposed rescheduled dates of the residential visit in due course.

We are grateful for your cooperation and support.

Kind regards,

Kate Daly
