Y3 – w/c 7th June

We’ve been practising for the Key Stage 2 Orienteering on Thursday.
On Monday, Year 3 each had a map with the start and finish drawn on (a red triangle) and red circles (controls). They had to read the map to work out the best way to find all of the controls. When they had found the control, they had to draw the map symbol on the control, write down the meaning and letter for the secret words.
On Tuesday, Miss Sutherland hid 17 maths questions in the woods. The maths questions each had a letter. Year 3 had to work out the answers to the maths questions and write down the letters to find Miss Sutherland’s secret message – WELL DONE YEAR THREE!

Year 3 have been learning all about Cave Painting. We used large pieces of brown paper and all drew are own designs. This is how real cave paintings would have been created. Watch this space for the finished paintings.

Year 3 have been very creative. We used a piece of kitchen roll and felt tip pens to create some beautiful patterns. These are some examples of our work.

Year 3 have finished filling the tyre planters and we now have some tomato plants and petunias growing.

We worked in groups to build the most stable tower using spaghetti and marshmallows. We used all of our 7Cs when completing this challenge. The children thought carefully about which ones we had used and how we had used them.
