Y3 – w/c 15th March

In Geography we have been learning about the different time zones around the world. We went outside and marked the playground with the different time zones. Some children then stood at GMT and decided what time it was. Then they moved to a different time zone and we worked out what time it would be in the countries in that time zone. We found it challenging when the time went back but we persevered and worked them out. We had lots of fun with this activity.

We were given 10 sheets of paper and asked to make the tallest tower. We worked with our partner to work out how to turn our sheets of paper into a tower. We had to collaborate and discuss our ideas. We had ten minutes to start with and we weren’t allowed to ask any questions. After ten minutes we all stopped and discussed what had worked and what hadn’t. We decided that we needed a wide base and that triangles were a strong shape. Next we had another ten minutes to try and improve our tower. It was quite a challenge and lots of our towers fell over but we kept going and some of our towers were really tall in the end. These are some of the tallest towers.

We have been creating our own superheroes as part of our Red Nose Day work. We chose the powers that our superhero would have and the costume they would wear. We had lots of fun creating them.
