Y2 w/c 23rd November

We started the week with a virtual visit from Ben from the Royal Museums Greenwich organisation; he told us all about Prem Gill and Matthew Henson and shared some artefacts from the museum with us.

Some of the explorers we have looked at travelled to Antarctica so we decided to have a closer look at the continent; we have started this by reading The Emperor’s Egg which is all about Emporer penguins who live in Antarctica.
We learnt that the male penguins look after the egg for 2 whole months. To see how careful they have to be, we packed some eggs into a box and used different materials to see which would protect the egg the best when it was dropped.
We have also started some finger painting of penguins.
