Y1 – w/c 15th March

This week we have been looking at bees and plants. The basic structure of a common flowering plant, adjectives we can use to describe flowers, what plants produce and the parts that we can eat (e.g stem-asparagus). We have even planted our own seeds. This week our book has been ‘Poppy and the Blooms’ by Fiona Woodcock. This is a lovely book which allows us to explore why protecting our environment is important and the beauty that flowers bring. Bees have also been a focus for Y1 this week. We’ve been looking at the important job bees have of pollinating flowers, how they make honey and why they are such a vital insect. Lots of fun!
