Dragons Love Tacos (and so do Year 1).
Last week we really enjoyed reading the book Dragons Love Tacos and how dragons aren’t keen on spicy salsa.
This book was a great way to introduce a traditional Mexican dish and we thoroughly enjoyed making our own paper versions. We chose our own ingredients and wrote down what we had used using a recipe card, adding chillies to make it spicy! We then took these home to see if we could make the real version.
This week we have been looking at sombreros, learning about why they are used so much in Mexico and having lots of fun making our own.
This term we have been learning a traditional Mexican hat dance and will be using these hats as a part of our dance. We will therefore take them home next week, along with our Mexican booklets that we have been working through.
We’ve been looking at the importance of kindness, being considerate and choosing to be a good friend. This tied in with our story Dragons Love Tacos, which touches upon being a Good Samaritan. This then stirred our learning to find out the meaning of being a Good Samaritan is. We then came up with lots of beautiful ideas about how we can show kindness and spoke about how showing kindness can create a domino effect.
