Y1 w/c 14th March – Flower Week
Spring has certainly sprung in Y1! This week we have been enjoying learning about flowers and seeds. We’ve learnt a lovely song all about how plants grow, we’ve read lots of non-fiction and fictional books about flowers, learnt that plants can grow from a bulb or a seed and how they disperse their seeds. We’ve also identified the basic structure of a flowering plant and investigated the parts of a plant that we can eat (roots-carrots, seeds-peas, etc).
We loved making flowers from different materials and learning how different herbs smell. Basil and mint were our favourites! It has been a wonderful introduction to our flower topic and we are looking forward to finding out more about plants next week.
