Poem of The Day – by Daisy

Zoom! Kaboom! How the bombs flew

With cold all the soldiers blue

Frostbite, trenchfoot, diarrhoea too

I don’t know how I’ll live this day through

Comrades dropping down like bowling balls

Wounded fighters crying out help calls

Everyone battling on through stumbles and falls

I’m so miserable but, aren’t we all?

Troupes so hungry, they’d eat birds

Of distraught soldiers, there are herds

I am now weak but my final words

“Remember me and all the other courageous men and women”
