Summer Reading Challenge

This morning, Eileen and Biscuit came to assembly to introduce this year’s Summer Reading Challenge from Suffolk Libraries. Any child who receives the certificate of completion from the library will get a smiley face at the beginning of September 2019! Please sign up at your local library. Not only is it a lovely challenge to do but there are also lovely activities taking place in the library when your child goes to talk about their book and this sometimes keeps them entertained (for free!0 for quite a while!

What is the Summer Reading Challenge?

Children are invited to sign up at their local library to read six library books of their choice and, upon completion, receive a certificate at a special presentation in the autumn.  The Challenge encourages school children to read books over the holidays to help maintain their reading skills. It’s a great way to get them reading widely and often, for pleasure and information. This year’s Summer Reading Challenge will have the theme of Space Chase, an out-of-this-world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. The Summer Reading Challenge celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and is the country’s biggest literacy campaign, celebrating a different theme each year.
