We have been gathering feedback over the past few months from parents and children about school lunches and this has led us to trial a ‘Pick ‘n’ Mix’ scheme throughout the Spring Term. This will start on Monday 21st January.
What is Pick ‘n’ Mix?
Pick ‘n’ Mix will be a cold lunch alternative to the hot lunches. There will be a sandwich (with a different filling each day) accompanied by:-
– Fruit Pot / Dried Fruit Bag / Fruit Wedge
– Crudites / Cherry Tomatoes / Mixed Salad
– Yoghurt Pot or Homemade Sweet Treat
– Juice Cuplet* or Water
* Please note, Edwards & Blake have guaranteed the nutritional qualities of these juices and they have assessed the additives to ensure they are healthy. Unfortunately, we cannot allow other juices to be provided in packed lunches from home or in the children’s water bottles.
What are the sandwich fillings?
Mondays – Cheddar Cheese
Tuesday – Ham
Wednesday – Tuna Mayonnaise
Thursday – Cheddar Cheese
Friday – Ham

How much does it cost?
Pick ‘n’ Mix will be the same price as hot lunches – £2.30. If your child is eligible for Free School Meals (F2, Y1 and Y2 or meet certain criteria), the Pick ‘n’ Mix option will also be covered by this scheme.
Can the children switch between hot lunches and Pick ‘n’ Mix?
Yes, you and your child will be able to make a daily choice after looking at the menu. Once they have made the choice and told the school, they will need to stick to their choice! We will provide details about how to give your choices to the school closer to the launch date (21st January).
Can I still provide a packed lunch from home?
Yes, you may still choose to send in a packed lunch from home.
How do I know what the food will be like?
We will be holding a ‘Taster’ session so that you can help your child to make an informed decision about their food choices. This will be at 3pm on Wednesday 16th January and will be for parents/carers only – your children will not be present.
We will also be holding our daily ‘Come Dine With Us’ sessions from Monday 28th January to Friday 22nd March (excluding week commencing 11th February). This will give you the opportunity to come in to school to have lunch with your child and taste what they are eating. Again, we will provide details on how to book your Come Dine With Us session closer to the date.
