New Procedures for Willow Garden

Dear Parents/Carers,

If your child will be coming to our ‘Willow Garden’ provision after half term, we need to advise you of our new procedures. These will come into place from 1st June. We need to make these changes because of the increasing number of children coming into school.

Our full Risk Assessment can be seen here and we ask that you take some time to read through this important document for you to gain an understanding of how staff and children will be kept safe at school.

1) The children will be split into:

Group 1 – F1, F2, Y1 & Y2 Key Workers’ children (based in the Early Years classrooms)

Group 2 – Y3, Y4, Y5,& Y6 Key Workers’ children (based in the School Hall and ICT Suite)

2) Entering and leaving:

Please adhere to our pedestrian one-way system when entering and leaving the school site. There will be clear signage for you to follow. If you have children in both groups, please accompany your younger child to the main entrance first. Your older child should preferably proceed independently to the school hall entrance.

Group 1  should use the main front entrance. Stay right through the school gates and leave any bikes/scooters in the racks along the path. Please use hand sanitiser, ring the doorbell and wait behind the line for a member of staff to come to the door.

Group 2 should use the Willow Garden door to the school hall. Stay left through the school gates and use the circular racks for bikes/scooters. Please ask your child to use hand sanitiser, ring the bell and wait behind the line for a member of staff to come to the door.

There will be 2m marks along the ground so please use these if other families are arriving at the same time. Please try to ensure that only ONE adult accompanies your child(ren).

In the event of younger children being reluctant to come into school, staff will allow space for them to be persuaded by a family member to come into school. Encouragement by members of staff will, as far as possible, remain socially distanced. Unfortunately, if these attempts are not successful, children may need to be taken home.

Only staff are permitted to use the car park.

3) Lunches

Children will have the choice of bringing a packed lunch or having a hot lunch for £2.30 (chargeable for F1 and KS2 children only).

The lunches will be our ‘Grab a Bag’ system to avoid contact with the school cooks. The temporary menu is now on our website here

If your child is in F1, Y3, Y4, Y5 & Y6 and isn’t entitled to Free School Meals, please make payment in advance for lunches  via BACS. We will not be able to accept cash. (Sort Code: 30-99-85 A/C 00496178 Ref: Child’s Name & Lunch)

4) What to Bring

Named Rucksack containing:-

  • Full (named) water bottle. Water fountains have been turned off but staff will be able to refill water bottles during the day.
  • Mid Morning Snack.

  • Sun screen. Please ensure your child has sun screen applied at the beginning of the day. Staff will not be able to help reapply sun screen during the day.
  • Sun hat.
  • Empty carrier bag to bring any craft items home.
  • School uniform is NOT needed but we ask that children (and staff) wear freshly cleaned clothes each day and advise children to wear trainers so they can take part in physical activities.

  • KS2 children should bring their own pencil case and reading book.

5) Opening Hours/Drop Off & Pick Up Times

The school will be open 8am – 6pm daily. The normal school hours of 8:50am – 3:30pm will be free of charge. If your child is attending for the ‘Normal’ school day, please arrive between 8:50am – 9:15am and pick up between 3:15pm – 3:45pm (unless a pre-arranged time has been agreed).

Any extra hours required will be charged as follows:-

3:30pm – 6pm – £9 (to include Pick ‘n’ Mix tea)

We will send you an invoice once we know your requirements. Please make payment via BACS. We will not be able to accept cash. (Sort Code: 30-99-85 A/C 00496178 Ref: Child’s Name & WG)

Parents/Carers will not be permitted to enter the school building unless an appointment has been arranged and only in exceptional circumstances.

6) Cleaning and Hygiene

Your child will be asked to regularly wash their hands and/or apply hand sanitiser.

Surfaces that are touched frequently will be cleaned during the day. Our cleaning provider will clean the rooms every day.

Please read our risk assessment for full details of how the classrooms will be organised and how the school will ensure the children will be made to feel at ease with these social distancing measures.

7) Symptoms of Coronavirus

Please continue to follow the standard national advice on the symptoms to look out for. Currently this is a new continuous cough, a high temperature, a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

If anyone in the household develops symptoms, please follow the guidance for households with symptoms.

Thank you for helping us to keep the children and staff safe at school. Please email comms@woodbridgeprimary.suffolk.sch.uk if you need to make any changes to your child’s bookings or if you have any questions.
