Jubilee Celebrations w/c 23rd May

We’ve had lots of fun celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in school. The classes have been working hard all week on Jubilee-themed activities in maths, literacy, music and art.

Years 1-5 had a special assembly on Friday afternoon, where the children watched a video of the filming of the Queen’s coronation in 1953, and learned about the meaning of the words in the National Anthem.

Each year group then had a chance to show the rest of the children their Jubilee work. Years 1, F2 and F1 had all made beautiful crowns in different colours and styles. Years 2, 3 and 4 showed their different patriotic artwork, and year 5 made colourful bookmarks. Mrs Watson-Brown also revealed a wonderful collaborative artwork of the Queen, created by children in her Chatbox sessions.

Finally, it was time to sing our special Jubilee song, accompanied by year 4 on their different instruments. We even had a Jubilee themed car arrive in the car park. A fantastic end to our Jubilee party day!

The children have had a wonderful five days and will be travelling home as this newsletter goes out. The Year 6 Derbyshire Page provides just a few snaps of their different activities. We will provide a full write-up of their adventures when we return after half term. As you can see, the lower school are excited to welcome their classmates back!

Jacob goes MILES for his classmates…

Jacob in F2 has loved cycling since he was old enough to use a balance bike, he has since taken up BMXing, off roading and loves everything bike related. He would love to share his passion with his classmates so has asked if he can fundraise to buy some trikes for Woodbridge Primary School. Jacob has set himself a HUGE target of cycling 100 miles in June! He would like to buy two trikes for Nursery and Reception so needs to raise around £500. Visit Jacob’s JustGiving page to donate!
