w/c 13th July
Dear all – parents and children!
Well, we come to the final week of the term. What a strange time we have all had!
I am glad we are all well and safe but have really missed being with you all! You are a great bunch!
The school is working hard to prepare the school for September to make our return as easy and as safe as possible. More to follow.
Well done to you and all the families for all your hard work – great job!
I have updated the website and have added the Summer Reading Challenge on the English page. This is the most important addition and if nothing else keep reading.
Other ideas I will put in the Summer Learning Holiday Poster. These are ideas and not essentials! The website will be open for the summer so you can always go back and take a look.
I have put a questionnaire for pupils for questions for Miss Sutherland and Mrs Lovie. They will answer any questions you have.
There is also one for parents too. It would be great if you could spare a few minutes to look at these and fill them in. They won’t take long, I promise! By Wednesday at the latest!
Please let me know if you need the link to the website. y2homelearning@woodbridgeprimary.suffolk.sch.uk
Enjoy your Summer.
I need to spend more time in the garden and trim the hedges! Just seen a muntjac deer!
Take care, stay well, be kind and have fun.

Hello everyone,
Hope you are all well and still enjoying your learning.
Hope you have found the new page has given you some new ideas and fun activities to try out.
I have added some more to the Year 2 website for this week.
I have been back in school full time again this week. Still feels very strange without your smiling faces. Hope you are having some fun times too. Let me know what you have been up to.
Last week we made wizards and witches hats and wands as well as completing the Haunted House Mystery.
This week we are going to have a go at making some magic potions! We also started watching Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The children have also been playing The Worst Witch games on CBBC – The magical adventure and The Enchanted Stone. https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/games/the-worst-witch-magical-mystery-game
It has been very windy this weekend. Dried all the washing very quickly!
Tonight we saw a Tawny Owl in the garden. It flew to a pole and stayed for 5 minutes and flew off again.
Still haven’t done anything about the wasp’s nest which is much bigger. The wasps collect wood from the shed doors to build their nest! I have a stripy door where they have been chewing it!.
I have had 5 pieces of writing sent in and 2 people have had their prizes already. 3 more are on the way! Don’t forget to send yours in to earn a prize.
Well done for all the work you have done and parents too! Remember the website is there to help you and has suggestions – you do what you can! Do let me know if there is anything you need.
Take care, stay well and be kind!

Hello all,
Well that was a very hot week we just had! Did you get to the beach or somewhere near water? The hose can be pretty cooling too.
Well done everyone for keeping on working in all that heat! School is very strange without you all but we really do need to make sure everyone is safe.
It is a great time to get out some empty containers, guess how much they hold and then fill them up with a measuring jug to see if you are right!
Just to update you on the writing competition – it does not have to be a story. I will let you choose what it is you wish to write about. It could be a report , a poem or a story.
I will be updating the website with some new activities – Witches, Wizards and Magic so check back on Wednesday!. I have heard that some of you are now into Harry Potter. Hope you have had a look at the Hogwarts page on the Year 2 website. It updates itself so do have a look.
Stay well, safe and be kind!
w/c 22nd June
Hello all,
Hope you are all well and have enjoyed a bit more time outside this week.
We have just seen the longest day of the year yesterday, it seems the sun rose at 4.34am and set at 9.19pm.
Can any of you work out how long the day was?
Well, Amber got her haircut. It took 2 and a 1/2 hours! She is a lot skinnier now.
I know some of you are finding it more tricky to keep up with your work. Keep going. I have put lots of new activities on the website for you to have a go at. They are suggestions – do what you can but keep up the reading work and the Big Maths. Most importantly have fun learning!
There are 2 writing competitions. One is a national competition and one is for me – I miss your stories so much. There will be prizes for everyone who has a go and special prizes for the best ones. Would love to see some!
Take care, be happy and be kind especially to your parents!
Miss you.
w/c 15th June
Good morning everyone and a beautiful sunny one it is!
Well things are beginning to open and we are able to see more people – distancing of course. Whilst walking Amber have seen some of you in the park. It was great to see you and your families out and about.
I hope you are all well and happy! I know some of you are missing school – me too! However, it is important we all stay safe and well.
Amber is due to have a haircut today! Hurray!!! She has been getting very hot with her furry coat.
This week I have discovered a wasps nest in my shed. Wondering how to deal with it. There have been several suggestions but do not feel very confident!
Well done for all your hard work. Lots of you are making real progress so well done for your perseverance and commitment! Thank you! You and your parents are doing fantastically well with your learning.
Let me know if there is any help needed. It may be getting more tricky to keep going. Don’t worry! Keep smiling and do the best you can.
Have a lovely week
w/c 8th June
Good morning everyone. I hope you have had a good week.
The weather is certainly colder but we definitely needed some rain! Everywhere is so dry and all the grass is brown.
It was a quiet week for us except we had a birthday in the house on Friday! A good excuse for a Chinese Take Away and a delicious Millionaires cake.
I have updated the website with some new resources about minibeasts and a link to Twinkl which has loads more for you if you need them. Please do not feel you have to do it all though. You are all doing a great job – including you parents!
Well done to those who continue to work so hard. Lots in Big Maths and Readworks. I have signed up to a new website called the Spelling Shed which has activities to help with spellings. I will mail you your log ins and certificates.
Keep smiling.
w/c 1st June
Hello dear children,
I hope you had a lovely half term week. The sun still shines and we are able to get out a bit more. Would love to hear what you have all been up to.
I have added some new things to the website so do take a look. These are just ideas to get you going. Feel free to try some.
This includes a reading of The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark. One of my all time favourite books. It is quite long so you can go back to it now and again. Hope you have seen the owlets in their bird box.
There is also a box under the owl called Adrift. It doesn’t look very exciting but it has a film to watcha and some writing ideas too.
There has been quite a lot of activity in the garden. The pigeons are trying to build a nest in the hedge. To be honest they are not very good at it! They fly with very long sticks in their efforts to build a nest!
We also had a vist from an adventurous fox cub. It got trapped in the back garden as we shut the gate after walking Amber. It took a good 15 minutes to encourage it to leave again after we had locked Amber in the house.
Stay well and have a good week. Miss you all. You are all amazing!
w/c 18th May
Well hello again everyone!
I hope you all had a good weekend. Nearly half term already. The weather has improved again thank goodness – much warmer.
It was a rocky road with Amber last week. It meant three trips to the vets!
However, she is much better now and barking for biscuits again. She really could do with a haircut though!
Thank you for all your hard work ( and parents).I will be sending out certificates later today. Your work is impressive and it is so lovely to see what you have all been up to and what great learning is happening.
There are some new things on the website including a children’s page which has links to the work you have sent in. There is also a message board for you to leave a message. So please do. Please share anything you have found and enjoyed.
Remember the activities are just some suggestions for you to try out. You do not have to do them all! I look forward to seeing what you have been up to – it brightens my day.
Take care and stay safe and have fun.
w/c 11th May
Well hello again!
I hope you enjoyed the sunshine this week and maybe enjoyed some VE Day celebrations. It got very hot on one or two days but it is much windier and cooler today.
This week I have discovered a pair of Blue Tits are nesting in the kitchen roof where one of the tiles has lifted. The robins are still flying in and out of their nest and there is a lot of cheeping going on. I have also been watching the Barn Owl box and have seen three owlets.
Mrs Hodges sent me a clip of the swifts that have returned last week. They make quite a lot of noise. I have put it on the website. There have been three tractors working on the field at the back of my garden. Not sure what they are planting so I shall have to wait and see what appears.I have been working on my computing courses and that has been a challenge sometimes. I am persevering though.
There are some new activities on the website including a link to Hogwarts if you are a Harry Potter fan. Just a reminder that the activities are only suggestions for you to try and not a must to complete! Thank you for all your hard work, photos and updates on your learning. I will be sending more certificates out today so well done for earning these. Big thank you to all you parents out there too!
Have seen a couple of you from a safe distance during the week. I miss you all and wish we could return to school. However, we must wait until it is really safe for all of us to do so.
w/c 4th May
Good morning Year 2,
I hope this morning finds you well. Well the garden got the rain it needed so the grass needs cutting again.
This week Amber managed to get into a muddy part of the river when we went for our daily walk. She got covered in mud and was rather smelly on the way home! I have been busy doing some online courses to improve my computing skills, which has been fun.
I have updated the Year 2 website with some new activities for you to try out. You don’t have to do them all! There are some ideas to have a go at. Well done to everyone who has managed to complete their Big Maths and Readworks tasks. I will be sending out certficates soon.
It has been lovely to see what you have been up to. Thank you for the photos and messages. It is really super to hear from you and see what you have been up to.
Please get in touch if you haven’t yet. There are a few children we haven’t heard from and we would really love to know what you have been up to.

Hello!
Another week passes in the sunshine! The garden is at its best in the Spring, allthough the weeds are beginning to grow very quickly! I keep meaning to do some weeding and then find an excuse to do something else that is very urgent!
Looking out at the garden the birds are extremely busy. A robin has built its nest in an ivy bush. Sadly it bumps into the window sometimes when going in and out!
Amber is still bossing me around barking for biscuits! She is in need of a haircut as she gets very fluffy!
Well done to all of you who have looked at the website and completed your Big Maths Challenges, Mathletics and Readwork tasks! The BBC Bitesize work has inspired some children.
You are stars! I have mailed your certificates to your parents. I have seen some great writing, art work and listened to some music. It is great to see what you have been up to so please keep in touch by mailing the y2homelearning@woodbridgeprimary.suffolk.sch.uk It would be great to add some of your work to the site – Children’s page? Let me know if you are happy to share your photos.
For those who haven’t been in touch yet, please do. We miss you! If you are having any problems with technology, let us know, we are here to help.
The website has been updated this week with some new ideas. There is a peregrine falcon webcam now as well as the barn owls and lots of other things. Check it out! If you have ideas to share let me know and I will add them too.
Stay well, stay safe, have fun and behave! Please try doing some work too!

Easter Holidays
Well here we are again – Monday morning BUT it is the Easter Holidays!!
I have included a few links to keep you busy.
I hope you and your family are all well and enjoying some of the sunshine we have been having. I have been busy cutting the grass and clearing up the last of the Oak leaves which get everywhere!
There are a pair of robins who are very busy in the back garden. They are nesting in the hedge.
https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/wildlife-guides/bird-a-z/robin/nesting-and-breeding-habits/ I have been learning what happens.
I have also been watching some bats – https://www.essexwt.org.uk/protecting-wildlife/wildlife-webcams/bat-webcam
Talking of learning, well done for all your learning too! I see alot of you had a go at the Big Maths challenges, Mathletics and Readworks and Code .org. They will all be there over the holiday period for you to have a go if you get fed up! I am trying to find a way to get the certificates to you.
Remember to read. I am enjoying some books I haven’t read in a while.
I have been looking for some Easter activities.

Well – Happy Monday!
Hope you are all safe and well. This is so weird!!!
Hope you are enjoying the Learning packs. Have heard from one or two parents that you are getting on with them.
Good to see folk have tried out Readworks – well done! And nearly everyone did their Big Maths challenges too. I owe you some points!!
Don’t worry if you can’t do some things, it’s not a test. It is all there to help. Have fun and get some exercise too. I am sure you have seen the Joe Wicks’ site for doing daily PE sessions –https://www.thebodycoach.com/blog/pe-with-joe-1254.html
For those who love football – here is another site put together by the Premier League. Check it out fans!

A fun website for different things to do has been put together by the Scouts. Again you may have seen this already, but some fun ideas here.
https://www.scouts.org.uk/the-great-indoors
I have been working too. All the reports have gone to Mr Krisson ready for him to read.
Bob and I have been working on ways to help you too.
So….
1) We have created a new email account which your parents will be invited to use. They can then mail direct if they need any help. You could message me too. There is a drive if you would like to send some pictures of what you have been doing. It would be great to see your smiley faces too – I miss them.
2) We are creating a Year 2 website which will have ideas and help for supporting learning and some fun stuff too. Your parents will be invited to see this too.
Most importantly of all is …stay safe and well.

Hi Year 2,
I hope you enjoyed the sunshine this weekend. It is some time since I have seen some of you and I hope you are all keeping well and safe. This is Amber. She is barking at me for dog biscuits as I write! No video as I am still in my PJ’s!
So to work.
Start your day with a bit of exercise, get your parents to join in – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X655B4ISakg or https://www.youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga
Next, I hope you have had some time to look at your pack. Find somewhere to do your work. Make it comfortable and ready with the things you need. Pencil, rubber, pen, colouring pens or pencils, highlighter if you have one.
Try breaking your day up into at least 30 minute chunks of learning. Make your own timetable so you can include some reading, comprehension, writing and spelling , maths and creative activities too.
Reading and comprehnsion. – You have 2 books to choose from or you can have a go at Readworks.
2 or 3 have and I have marked their work and left a couple of messages. Don’t forget to press the submit button when you have finished the answer.
Try out a Spag mat in your booklet. Copy 10 common word spellings from your diary. Go on Phonics Play. https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/freeIndex.htm
Maths
You have a book too for this. Warm up by counting in 10’s, 5’s and 2’s counting backwards and forwards. Have a go at the topmarks games. Complete a page.

Drawing and Painting – Try recreating your imaginary creature – we never did finish painting them!
Look at your learning poster for the next step.
Gym Trailers – some activities for you.
Create an obstacle course -use furniture, pillows and blankets to create areas to crawl on, under and through

Feed the ball – cut a line in a tennis ball, show how to squeeze the ball. Pick up small items and feed to the ball.
Get some chalk and find a place to draw in the garden making BIG letters.
https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/t-l-51980-fine-motor-skills-activity-cards
I am working on a way with Bob for you to send me photos of your work so I can see what you have been up to and so I can give more help if you get stuck! I also want you to have access to the Powerpoints and practice questions for Big Maths and other resources.
Will be in touch soon with more for you to do! Miss you already! Take care of yourselves and best wishes to you all.
