Christmas assemblies – next week

Where has the time gone? One moment it was autumn and now we’re well into advent! As you can see from our cheeky kitchen elf, and our beautifully decorated Christmas tree (thanks Leanne!) we’re really getting into the festive spirit!

Details of the Christmas assemblies has gone out with all the details (including confirmation of pre-requested seats) but as a reminder, here’s the dates that your child is set to perform:

  • Monday 6th – Y3
  • Tuesday 7th – Y4
  • Wednesday 8th – Y1+2
  • Thursday 9th – Y6
  • Friday 10th – Y5
  • Monday 13th – F1+2

Important:  please only attend if you have a negative lateral flow/PCR test result on the day.

Christmas Jumper Day – 14th December

As in previous years, we’re making Christmas Lunch day a Christmas Jumper Day too. So, your child gets an opportunity to don their brightest, sparkliest woolly pully while tucking into their festive fayre. (Note: Christmas jumpers do not need to be purchased specially – any jumper is fine!)

Plus, FOWPS has also laid on another treat – a panto version of Aladdin to be watched online from the classroom smart boards. All in all, it should be a very fun and festive day. We’re asking for a suggested donation of £1 which will go towards activities next year. Please pop your money into the buckets which will be outside the entrances on the 14th. Thank you!

Hamper tickets on sale next week

Another big thank you to everyone for their generous donations to our class hampers. The FOWPS elves will be helping the classes make their hampers next week, so if you’d still like a chance to donate, then we’ll gladly take extra items until the end of Monday. Tickets will go on sale soon – keep an eye out for Leanne Ludidi in the playground, as she’ll be selling the tickets.

Sports Enrichment sessions

Although the weather’s been wintry, the children have shown amazing resilience this week, playing outdoor sports with big smiles on their faces. (Thanks for sending your children well wrapped up!)

Premier Sports once again put on Sports Enrichment sessions for classes across Y3-6, which has seen them learn and improve on skills in archery, handball, multisports and lacrosse.

Goodbye to…

We would like to extend a big thank you to two much-loved members of staff who leave Woodbridge Primary School.

Chantal Player has made a decision to spend more time with her son George, so will not be returning as the F2 teacher after her maternity leave in February. As many of you know, Chantal is a long term member of the school staffing team and has been at the school for 11 years.

In addition, Kerry Isik is leaving at the end of the Autumn term to further her career in education. She is taking up a position as Family & Student Support / ELSA at Cedarwood Primary in Kesgrave. In the time that Kerry has worked with the school (nearly 4 years), she has worked wonders in her role as an SEND TA, and more recently, in providing children with emotional literacy support.

We will miss both of these wonderful members of staff greatly and appreciate all the valuable input that they have provided to the school over the years. To ensure a seamless transition, we’ve successfully appointed two new members of staff – more details to follow.

Year 1 – Jam Jars

Mrs Williams is on the hunt for jam jars! Please bring your clean, dry and label-free jars into Y1 (or place into the green box outside the front office if your child is not in Y1). Many thanks from the Y1 team.
