Year 6 SATs Week
Well done to all of year 6 for getting through SATs week! Despite some tough papers, they all showed great commitment and resilience to getting the tests done. The class undertook papers in spelling, comprehension, grammar, arithmetic and mathematical reasoning.
The children were encouraged to bring a small mascot to accompany them during their tests, and we saw a lovely collection of soft toys and other items make their way into school!
The class will receive their results in July, towards the end of the summer term. Now, they can relax a little as thoughts turn to the many exciting things planned before they leave. This includes sports day, and the summer production (The Mystery of Magpie Manor) as well as the upcoming residential.
Well done again year 6. We are so proud of you… here’s just a few of you celebrating the end of a long week!

Sports Stars
We are all delighted to hear that Rebecca in year 4 completed her swimathon at Crown Pools and swam 2.5km – 100 length in 1 hour 22mins. Well done Rebecca! She is so close to reaching her £300 target for Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie. So, if you’d like to take her over the line, then please visit her JustGiving page!
Here is Rebecca’s account of her swim:
“I did my swimathon on the 7th of May 2022. I was doing 2.5k and my mum was doing 5k. It was really hard. Every ten lengths I had a five second break and then I carried on. When I got out of the pool my legs were shaking. I got my medal and then I got changed. I watched my mum finish as well and then we went home.”
As well as this, Niamh – also in year 4, took part in a tennis competition at Kingston Fields and won! Well done Niamh! We are very proud of you.
Name our boat competition – WINNER!
After lots of careful consideration, Grandad Everitt has named Theadora the winner of the ‘Name our Boat’ competition. Theadora, in F1, chose the name ‘Boom ba Chacka, Boom, Boom Blop’ and she created a lovely heart-themed design which will be made into stickers ahead of the grand launch into F2 very soon.
All of the funds will go towards resourcing the Early Years outdoor area bikes and trikes.
Grandad Everitt says:
“I was so impressed with all the creativity. I loved them all but could only choose one. Thank you to everyone for your brilliant efforts and some very generous donations. You are all wonderful.”
To echo what Grandad Everitt has said, we would also like to thank you all for your contributions in helping to further resource the Early Years area. We will share pictures of the trikes in future newsletters – watch this space!
Uniform reminder
Just a reminder that children should wear full school uniform on the days that they do not have PE or a club, as we’re finding some children are coming to school with incorrect uniform.
For club/PE days, please ensure that tracksuit bottoms and shorts are of a dark colour (e.g. dark grey or black) with a white t-shirt to meet our PE kit list, see below.
Y6 may wear their Derbyshire hoodies on PE/club days, but other sports hoodies/sweatshirts are not permitted.
- White T-shirt
- Dark shorts
- Dark Tracksuit
- Trainers (the same trainers currently worn as part of the school uniform)
- Spare socks
- Sunhat & suncream (Summer)

Date for your diary – Summer Fayre – Saturday 2nd July
Just a reminder that the much-loved summer fayre is back after a two-year break on Saturday 2nd July. As always, we will need lots of lovely volunteers to help us run the games and stalls for the children.
If you can pop the date in your diary for now, that would be great. We will put sign-up boards in the playground on the first Monday back after half term so that you can see what help we need. We will break the tasks down into one hour slots (although if you can do more, that would be amazing!)
Thank you in advance from all at FOWPS.
Tombola Donations
We are running a tombola at the summer fayre and would absolutely love top quality items to make it our best yet! If you know of any businesses that would like to send items or vouchers our way, then please get in touch with pta.woodbridgeprimary@googlemail.com or let Leanne Ludidi know so that she can coordinate this with you.
