Dress in red for Comic Relief – Friday 18th March

Please encourage your child/ren to come dressed in red for Comic Relief Friday 18th March (next week). Red socks, red hairbands and top-to-toe scarlet outfits are all welcome! We suggest a voluntary donation of £1 with all proceeds to the charity. Y6 has done an amazing job and sold all its red noses. However, you can still buy one from Sainsbury’s!

World Book Day Prize Winners

Congratulations to our World Book Day prize winners. As you will have seen from our World Book Day photo gallery last week, there were many wonderful costumes – which made our judging job very difficult!

F1 – Ray (Shaun the Sheep – Tales From Mossy Bottom Farm)
F2 – Austin (Funnybones)
Y1 – Moli (Where’s Wally)
Y2 – Elizabeth (Pipi Longstocking)
Y3 – Danny (Hiccup – How To Train Your Dragon)
Y4 – Darcey (Dumbo)
Y5 – Reuben (Oliver Twist)
Y6 – Finn (Oompa Loompa, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory)

All of our winners received a book prize. KS2 were the lucky recipients of a signed copy of Danny Wallace’s latest book, The Luckiest Kid in the World. Meanwhile, F1, F2 and Y1 received books by favourite authors including Sue Hendra (of Supertato fame!)

Here’s a few snaps of just some of the winners, along with some others we managed to grab from the Stars of the Week assemblies…

After school tennis

Jon Mansfield’s after school tennis club finishes for its last session on Monday 21st March. We’ll let you know what other sessions he has planned for the rest of the year.

Musical instrument lessons

We have spaces in all the musical instrument lesson timetables for any children wishing to start. Piano, guitar, ukulele and drumming are available to anyone from Year 2 upwards. Clarinet and flute are available from Year 3 or 4 but children can start earlier on a Dood or a Toot, the junior equivalent. Please read our Musical Instrument FAQs for more information about fees, grades, practice and more!

Inter-school sports next week

We’re pleased to say that two of our teams will compete in inter-school events next week. On Monday, some of the Y5 students will participate at a Quick Sticks hockey tournament at the Royal Hospital School. On Tuesday, it’s Y6’s turn to take on local schools at dodgeball at Inspire, Ipswich. We’ll let you know how they get on! Good luck everyone.

Fundraising for Ukraine

As a school, we are keen to raise funds for Ukraine and are considering fundraising ideas/events which will be shared with you in next week’s news.

  • The Bake House (New Street) has already made one trip to the Ukrainian border with local donations and hopes to accept more essential items soon – keep an eye on their Facebook page for new dates.
  • Savers in Woodbridge is inviting shoppers to donate items purchased in-store. Items such as bandages, painkillers, baby food, sanitary items, blankets and toiletries are all welcomed.

Covid – Positive cases week ending Friday 11th March
