Woodbridge Primary School is a state-funded, local authority controlled, co-educational school providing education for children from the ages of 3 to 11 years.

Education in England is overseen by the Department for Education and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. Local Authorities (LA) have responsibility for implementing a policy for state-funded schools at a local level.

Full-time education is compulsory for all children from the age of 5 years, with the child beginning their full-time education during the academic year they turn 5 years old.

Applying for a School Place

Foundation 1 (Nursery)

From the age of 3 years, children can attend Little Willows Nursery. Little Willows Nursery is part of Woodbridge Primary’s Wrap Around Provision and provides early years education from the age of 3 – 4 years.

Children have the option of attending the nursery from 8.50am until 3.30pm, Monday – Friday during term-time. The nursery has a maximum capacity of 26 children and application to Little Willows Nursery is made through the school.

Please note that admission to the Little Willows Nursery does not guarantee a full-time place in the school after the September following the child’s 4th birthday.

Foundation 2 (Reception)

Foundation 2 (also called Reception) is for children who turn 5 within the academic year, (which runs from 1st September to 31st August), and who are embarking on their full-time primary education.

Admission

Admission to full-time education at Woodbridge Primary School is made through the Suffolk County Council. Please refer to their website to find out more about our admission and appeal arrangements.

In order to be considered for a place at Woodbridge Primary for a September start, you will need to submit an application by the date set by Suffolk County Council, which is usually within the first two weeks of January.

Once you have received an offer of a place at Woodbridge Primary School, you will need to complete our own Admission Form and return it to us before your child starts school in September.
